Airport Tips at Jacksonville Ellis Airport

Posted October 12, 2019

Traveling to new places is a great luxury in life, but getting through the airport may not feel like the most luxurious part of the adventure. If you prepare and plan, there are ways to get through the Jacksonville Ellis Airport a bit quicker. Consider these tips:

Pack Light

Dragging bulky bags through the airport is no fun, so pack the essentials, but leave the extras at home.

Portable Charger or Battery

Keeping a portable charger on hand will make your life much easier when it comes to traveling. Maybe your phones dies while you’re on the go or you are struggling to find an open outlet at the airport. Having a portable charger with you means that you can charge your phone regardless of where you are, and you don’t have to stay in one place to do so.

Empty Water Bottle

You can only bring 3.4 oz of liquid through airport security, so pack an empty water bottle in your carry-on luggage. You can fill it up after you’ve gone through security and you will likely enjoy having it with you during your trip. In the post COVID world many water fountains may be out of service, so bring a few dollars, but stay hydrated.

Take a Left

If your airport has one, take the left lane when entering the security check. Why? Research shows that people naturally gravitate toward the right, so the left lane might be a little less hectic. This may not always be the case, but it’s worth a shot.

Check In Early

Wait until you can select a free seat 24 hours before your flight. You can avoid waiting to check in at the airport, especially if you are traveling with only carry-on luggage. If you do need to check your luggage, print your baggage tag at the airline kiosk and you may be able to go straight to the baggage line. The counters close 30-45 minutes before departure, so arrive early.

Check Flight Status

Always check your flight status before you leave for the airport. You don’t want to arrive to the airport just to find that your flight has been delayed or cancelled. You will also save yourself from rushing if you check to find that your flight has been delayed. Save yourself time and energy by checking ahead of time.

Luggage Pick-Up

If you have a layover between flights, always be sure to find out where you will need to pick up your luggage, especially cate checked luggage. Will it be going directly to your final destination or will you need to pick it up during your layover?
